Player and Team fit for the Patriots 3rd Round Pick
Kyle Williams – Round 3 Pick 69 – New England Patriots
A player that was gaining more steam than almost anyone in the entire draft, Kyle Williams was flying up NFL boards pre-draft. I’m not sure what took so long, the tape tells the story. Even as a smaller receiver (5’11, 190), this is a player who can beat press coverage as well as pace routes from the slot or out wide. The way he wins can quickly become a target earning profile in the NFL.
Williams’ game translates as a separator with the ability to dominate the quick game and intermediate area of the field. Williams also showed some explosiveness in the open field and ability to get vertical on screens. His film just screams that this is a ready NFL ball player who will be used often in the league.
Guess who didn’t have even a small resemblance of that ability in 2024? The New England Patriots. Yes, I mean the whole team. Everyone in the world loves what the Patriots did in the draft, Kyle Williams was a big part of that for me. To put it in simple terms, this team had absolutely zero juice last season. They prioritized legit matchup winners all offseason, even bringing in Stefon Diggs.
The offense will look to create explosives in 2025. Williams and TreVeyon Henderson will be the centerpieces of that approach. Expect the Patriots to move their talented 3rd round pick around the formation with his pro-ready release package. They can pick and choose their matchups with him and the volume will come with it. I see real upside for Williams in both 2025 and beyond. Even with Diggs eating up some chain mover targets, he’s not a long-term piece for them. Drake Maye to Kyle Williams is something I expect to hear often this upcoming season.
2025 Fantasy Outlook: Ascending offense and young QB. Wide open WR room with opportunity to be the top point scorer for his team. The price does not reflect that possible outcome. Great value in both dynasty and redraft at cost. Seeing him in a lot of 3rd rounds in rookie drafts and he will be close to free in redraft.
